The new and expanded deCoste Cultural Hub is officially open!

The Centre has always been a treasured venue but this major renovation includes an expanded, accessible culture hub that includes a new modern public library, a fully renovated theatre, visual arts exhibition facilities, and meeting space for other cultural and community groups.

A few months ago the federal Minister of Health, Mark Holland, held a session with seniors in our community to discuss the need for dental coverage.

The message we heard: nobody should go without the dental care they need because they can’t afford it.

We’re building more affordable housing in New Glasgow!

Together, the federal and provincial governments, along with the Nova Scotia Co-operative Council, have invested more than $4 Million toward the construction of 20 new affordable homes at Coady’s Place.

Firefighters put their lives on the line for our communities every day. But the danger they face doesn’t end when they leave the station or make the decision to retire.

Unfortunately, many firefighters are diagnosed with cancers linked to their line of work. We’re establishing a National Framework on Cancers Linked to Firefighting including an investment of over $12 Million to advance firefighter health and safety.

We need more health care workers at home if we’re going to address the challenges facing Nova Scotia’s health care system.

Health may be a provincial responsibility, but we want to do our part to help make a meaningful difference.

Westville is helping new businesses get their start!

The Town applied for support to help revitalize its Main Street with kiosks that provide retail space for local entrepreneurs who may not be in a position to afford a location with a full storefront.

The Jitney Trail Bridge is officially reopened!

The bridge, locally known as the Gut Bridge, is a vital part of the trail system that ties Pictou to the larger regional and national networks, including the Trans Canada Trail, Nova Scotia’s Blue Route cycling network, and the International Appalachian Trail.
