The Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic is Officially Open in Halifax!
32 countries in the world are NATO allies.
Only 2 of those countries host NATO’s new Defence Innovation Accelerators.
Canada is one of them.
NATO’s new Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) is hosted right here in Nova Scotia, and it officially opened today.
What’s the purpose of the office?
Well, emerging and disruptive technologies are changing the way the world operates in times of peace, crisis, and conflict.
So, the office here in Nova Scotia will serve as a hub for new ideas and tech to enable our allies partner with the private sector to help sharpen NATO‘s technological edge to protect transatlantic security. The office will fund, study, mentor, and market the technology and teams that can help serve this purpose.
This is going to advance security solutions, and help create good paying jobs here at home.
Why Halifax?
The city has an innovation and tech scene that is on the rise. It’s home to our Atlantic naval fleet. It hosts world-leading institutes like COVE, includes a world-class shipyard, and welcomes guests from across the globe for the renowned Halifax International Security Fourm.
Halifax also has a storied military history. Now, it will be a place from where NATO and its allies will work to help secure a more peaceful future for the world.
Nova Scotians should be proud that once again, we are punching above our weight on the world stage.
I can’t wait to see the world that comes out of this new institution in the years ahead!
