Creating a National Framework on Cancers Linked to Firefighting

Firefighters put their lives on the line for our communities every day. But the danger they face doesn’t end when they leave the station or make the decision to retire.

Unfortunately, many firefighters are diagnosed with cancers linked to their line of work.

We’re establishing a National Framework on Cancers Linked to Firefighting including an investment of over $12 Million to advance firefighter health and safety.

This funding will help to support research, information sharing, opportunities for action, and the development of guidance for diagnostic testing.

Cancer is the leading cause of job-related deaths for firefighters in Canada. Firefighters protect us every day.

We need to do what we can to protect them too.
