More Transit in Rural Nova Scotia!
We’re expanding access to transit in rural Nova Scotia!
12 communities across the province will see enhanced services as a result of a $3.9 Million investment from the federal government.
Here at home, Pictou County is receiving support to help cover the cost of a new bus, and will also receive more than $700,000 to help build the necessary infrastructure to keep the service going over the next 10 years.
This year, the new service in our community will provide approximately 50,000 rides to local residents in Pictou County alone!
Halifax Regional Municipality will also receive over $132,000 to purchase two hybrid vans to serve the Musquodoboit Valley and the Eastern Shore.
These projects will help people get to work, medical appointments, and to access facilities and services in the community, and will have a disproportionate and positive impact on seniors, people living with disabilities, and low-income households.
Congrats to everyone involved. Let’s keep our communities moving!
