More affordable housing is coming to Antigonish!

We are investing more than $2.7 Million through the Antigonish Affordable Housing Society to build out the next phase of the Appleseed Court development, which is offering affordable rents to families and seniors in need.

Big Island’s wharf was completely destroyed in 2022 when Hurricane Fiona hit our region.

Through the determination of community volunteers and with the support of the federal government, the wharf has been rebuilt and is proving to be well used by the community.

Our forests are important. They serve as habitats for wildlife, help in the fight against climate change, and reduce the damage from severe weather events.

Both the 2023 wildfire season and Hurricane Fiona devastated our forests. These disasters displaced families and destroyed large forested areas.

Climate change has brought an increase in severe weather to our region. Now, more than ever, we need to be prepared.

Today, I joined volunteers and members of local organizations to announce an investment of nearly $750,000 through the Hurricane Fiona Recovery Fund to support comfort centres at 30 different locations across Pictou County.

It’s almost back to school season!

I stopped by the United Way of Pictou County this morning to drop off some backpacks for their annual Backpacks for Kids Program which helps families in need with the cost of going back to school.

The Halifax County Exhibition has been an annual tradition in Middle Musquodoboit for 140 years.

I had a great time taking part in today’s opening ceremonies to help kick off this terrific community event!
