Cleaning up our Oceans!

A bit of good news for our ocean!

After Hurricane Fiona, we put some funding towards cleaning abandoned fishing gear (or “ghost gear”) out of the marine environment locally.

It is a significant source of plastic pollution that can remain in the water for centuries.

The Hurricane Fiona Ghost Gear Fund, which included over $7 Million in funding for local communities, has contributed to the retrieval of over 695 tonnes of gear and 453km of rope!

Let’s keep our oceans clean so that marine animals, fish stocks, and our natural environment can thrive.

Thanks to everyone involved in the clean up effort!
