If you’re driving between Pictou County and Antigonish this week, things may look a little different!

An entirely new section of highway opened yesterday replacing one of the most dangerous stretches of road in all of Nova Scotia.

We may have helped out in getting the project to this stage with an investment of $90 Million from the federal government, but Fire Chief Joe MacDonald deserves so much of the credit.

Joe’s advocacy for this project goes back nearly a decade, which grew out of his desire to save lives after dealing with the tragic consequences of a deadly highway as a local first responder.

Congratulations Joe! This project will save lives. Looking forward to seeing the entire project complete later this Summer!
