Happy Canada Day! Bonne Fête du Canada!

I hope you get to celebrate being Canadian with your loved ones today.

In 8 years as an MP, it’s my first away from home in Nova Scotia. But, we’ve got an opportunity to welcome families of new Canadians as citizens in a few special ceremonies today all across the country.

Being surrounded by people who have chosen to become Canadian reminds me what a lottery of birth it is to have been born here.

As we celebrate this national holiday, let’s take a moment to welcome our newest citizens to our shared home!
