$5,000 TO HELP FAMILIES TRANSITION OFF OF OIL
In the past year, the cost of home heating oil has doubled. This, alongside the rising cost of everything from rent and mortgage payments to groceries is putting people in a really tough spot.
Families shouldn’t have to choose between keeping their kids warm in the winter and keeping them fed before school.
That is why I announced the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Grant which will provide $5,000 toward heat pump installation for low to moderate income households that currently use oil to heat their home.
This funding is in addition to the Canada Greener Homes Grant, which also provides up to $5,000 for a range of energy efficiency measures.
In total, our Government will provide up to $10,000 towards a heat pump through these programs.
This will save families between $1,500 to $4,700 each year in heating costs!
This news means that many families will no longer need to worry about oil for heat, will have affordable, efficient energy for years to come, and more money in their pockets.
I look forward to seeing tens of thousands of families benefit from lower power bills and more people working in good paying jobs across the country.
