Discussing a strategic approach to Affordable Housing

Access to housing remains a barrier for far too many people in our communities.

I've been spending a lot of time meeting with groups about affordable housing in our region, and have helped advance important projects in the area I represent.

Pictou County is seeing an incredible pressure put on the housing market, and I'm hearing from more and more people about the need to expand access to affordable housing.

Yesterday, I joined members of the non-profit sector, local developers, municipal leaders, provincial representatives, and more to discuss the need for a strategic plan to address the problem.

We had a productive discussion and have agreed to work together to develop a plan to address the problem and grow the housing supply in Pictou County in a way that will allow more families in our community to find a home they can afford.

I'm deeply grateful for everyone's willingness to take part in these conversations. This kind of engagement is an essential step toward solving a challenging problem, like a lack of local housing options.

I'm looking forward to our next meeting!
