Plastic in our Oceans

Every minute, the equivalent of one garbage truck load of plastic enters our oceans. If we don't change our ways, there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish by 2050.

We must take action to address this threat to our marine environment.

The Prime Minister announced yesterday that we are moving forward with a ban on harmful single-use plastics and we are placing the responsibility on producers of plastics to manage the entire life cycle of their products.

Thanks to my colleague, Churence Rogers, for raising this important issue with me in the House of Commons yesterday.
