So We Meet Again

On Wednesday I was pleased to meet with my our Central Nova Youth Council for our second meeting.

The group, which is comprised of 22 talented and bright high school and post-secondary students from throughout the riding, meet to explore two very important topics: youth employment and the environment.

I always enjoy connecting with youth on all issues, and these two, which were flagged by the group as their priorities, led to an engaging discussion. We discussed barriers to youth employment, their personal experiences and the general impact preparing for or participating in a job search can have on young people. We then also discussed the environment – from our oceans and species, to littering and clean water.

Following this discussion, we broke out into smaller groups where we brainstormed ideas for community projects that the council will champion to address the issues we discussed.

I look forward to sharing those ideas with you, and how you can participate once they come to fruition. Stay tuned – we have a talented group of youth in our community with bright ideas and who are looking to make a difference.
