Meghan’s Place

“A society grows great when people plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.”

My friend and valued member of our community, Meghan Bragg, included this quote in the obituary she wrote just before she passed away at this time last year.

In her final days, she requested that any donations in her honour be made to create inclusive and accessible recreational space in the Town of Westville, where she served as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor.

Today, we gathered not only to celebrate Meghan’s life, but to advance the work toward Meghan’s Place, an accessible playground for our entire community.

Incredibly, after an incredible community-led fundraising initiative, and support from different levels of government, the project has more than $600,000 committed toward turning Meaghan’s vision into a reality.

Meghan, if you’re watching us up there, we’re proud of you. You would have loved today, and are the reason we came together.

Thank you for planting a tree under whose shade our entire community will sit for a generation to come.
