Investing in Local Organizations
May 2022
It was great to be back at Pictou Lodge to announce over $447,000 in federal investments to five organizations in Pictou County, Antigonish, and the Eastern Shore through the Tourism Relief Fund.
The organizations that will benefit from today’s announcement include:
The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia, to help create opportunities for participants in the local fishery to create marine tourism opportunities
Destination Eastern and Northumberland Shores (DEANS) who will work to establish new festivals and events to help grow the sector in the region
KAW Developments, who is building an accessible recreational retreat on the Northumberland Strait
Halifax Surf School for upgrades to their shop and expansion of their inventory that will allow them to reach more customers
Pictou Lodge, who will be making upgrades to enhance internet quality and install heat pumps that will enable them to extend their seasons into the late Spring and Fall.
Tourism plays a massive part in our local economy and I am proud of the work we’ve done to support our tourism operators. If you can, make sure to stop in and support one of our many amazing tourism businesses!
