Investing in Local Organizations

After two long years tourism operators like those I got to meet today need support more than ever and our government is standing with them

It was great to be back at Pictou Lodge to announce over $447,000 in federal investments to five organizations in Pictou County, Antigonish, and the Eastern Shore through the Tourism Relief Fund.

The organizations that will benefit from today’s announcement include:

• The Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia, to help create opportunities for participants in the local fishery to create marine tourism opportunities

• Destination Eastern and Northumberland Shores (DEANS) who will work to establish new festivals and events to help grow the sector in the region

• KAW Developments, who is building an accessible recreational retreat on the Northumberland Strait

• Halifax Surf School for upgrades to their shop and expansion of their inventory that will allow them to reach more customers

• Pictou Lodge, who will be making upgrades to enhance internet quality and install heat pumps that will enable them to extend their seasons into the late Spring and Fall.
