Cameron Smith: Canada 150&Me Finalist

Nothing pleases me more than to see a Central Nova resident not only participate in, but be named one of the winners in a national Canada 150 contest.

Recently, Cameron Smith, a local high school student in New Glasgow, entered Experiences Canada 150&Me Contest where she submitted an essay answering the question “What is the greatest opportunity or challenge facing Canada for YOUR Generation?”.

Cameron’s essay ‘The Loudest Generation’, which demonstrated her passion for human rights, was selected amongst one of the 150 finalists, who will be heading to the Experiences Canada 150&Me Youth Forum in Vancouver on April 2nd, where she’ll meet other finalists, listen to speakers like David Suzuki, and explore the west coast.

What is Canada 150&Me?Canada 150&Me is an national competition for youth between the ages of 14-19.  Participants selected will be travelling to one of four regional cities for a week of educational, cultural and community activities.  There will be a one-day Forum in each of the regional cities based on a theme young people have chosen as the most relevant.  Participants will be hearing from guest speakers and have a chance to discuss topical issues.
