A Great Day for Public Transit!

Public transit should be easy to use and available to everyone.

I was excited to see that earlier this month the Band Council from Pictou Landing First Nation voted to be connected to the existing Pictou County Transit network.

We’ve funded the Pictou County Transit Society with more than $475,000 to purchase a second full-sized bus to service the existing New Glasgow-Stellarton route, and a new 10-person bus to service communities outside the main route, as well as to establish 5 new bus stops in our community.

Through this project we’re helping residents in rural communities gain access to jobs and essential services they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to access without a car.

I look forward to seeing further growth of our local transit buses!
