Many of us can easily reflect on a teacher who has made a difference in their lives, or can see the difference a teacher has made in their child’s life. I encourage you to take some time and nominate a teacher in Central Nova for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence. You can nominate a teacher for Teaching Excellence in Early Childhood Education, or for the new category of Teaching Excellence in Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) Click on the link below to learn more, including a nomination template to help you prepare your submission, where you’ll reflect on the 5 selection criteria:

  1. Digital and Creative Literacy in the Classroom
  2. Innovative and Exemplary Teaching Practices
  3. Support Student Success and Skills Development
  4. Global Citizenship and Community Involvement
  5. Commitment and Leadership

As noted above, last year I was delighted to meet Mr. Robert Hammer, from Musquodoboit Rural High School, who was one of the deserving 2016 recipients. Read more about Mr. Hammer’s teaching style, and why his student’s say “It’s Hammer time!”, click HERE
