Announcing Pre-Budget Consultations

I am proud to share that last year’s pre-budget consultations had the highest-ever turnout on record. The federal government reached over 250,000 people and received over 5,200 submissions. This year, our challenge is to engage even more people in a conversation about how we can work together to build a better future for our children and grandchildren.

Announcing Pre-Budget Consultations

Last February, our office hosted Budget 2016 pre-consultations along our Eastern Shore, in Antigonish and Pictou County.  There, I spoke with many of you, community leaders, politicians, executive directors and constituents, about what matters most to you, and how that can be reflected in Budget 2016.

I am proud to share that last year’s pre-budget consultations had the highest-ever turnout on record. The federal government reached over 250,000 people and received over 5,200 submissions.

This year, our challenge is to engage even more people in a conversation about how we can work together to build a better future for our children and grandchildren.

At a local level, we saw many of the ideas we discussed together come to fruition including rural broadband, the Canada Child Benefit, support for small craft harbours, community infrastructure and support for post-secondary institutions, amongst many other themes that we discussed.

Now, I’m inviting you to join me to share ideas for Budget 2017.
